Chapter 17
So instantly we see a return to the flipbook pages, which we discussed in the Volume 2 post. You thought ten pages was a lot? Well get ready for twenty-six pages of Genos' opening attacks. It's actually three separate camera shots too.
I don't know what kind of performance-enhancing drugs Murata was on when he made this, but I need some myself.
Here's the gif. Hopefully the filesize isn't too big:
Absolutely insane.
But this time, the volume version actually did a really good job of adapting the fight - maybe even a better job.
The volume redraw gave the fight some more variety and a better flow, because while Genos' flipbook attacks are certainly impressive to experience, that's pretty much it. There's not a whole lot more in the original fight besides what I've shown you. The volume spices up the fight a lot, and it's a lot closer to what you see in the anime adaptation.
After both sequences, Genos tries to hit Saitama with his gigantic incineration cannon blast, with some slight differences:
Then Saitama taps Genos on the shoulder and does the awesome fake-out death punch. So the two versions of the fight end the same, they just have different contents.
What a chapter. Just one more thing...
Chapter 18
Speed-o'-Sound Sonic had a wardrobe inconsistency in the original release. He first showed up in a white shirt, and it later turned black. This got fixed in the volume release.
Phew, that's that for this volume. So many flipbook pages to upload. I sure hope the next post doesn't have any more of those... ;)
