Volume 8: That Person

Here we go, people! It's the Human Monster Saga, the longest story saga in the entire series so far. At the time of writing this, season two has finished and it only got like halfway through the whole saga. It's got heroes, it's got villains, and it's got lots of monsters. Let's dive right in.

Chapter 38

King. The Rank 7 S-Class hero. The strongest man in the world. He's scary, and the volume redraw lets you know.

Holy crapola, as they say. I'm with Tongue Stretcher on this one.

This drawing of King's face is actually what made me want to start this blog project; this is one of the most drastic redraws I've ever seen. Like, the original is pretty good already, but Murata was like "no, this sucks, I need to redo this" and made something absolutely unreal.

Chapter 39

The next redraw is another face one, this time with our hero Saitama:

It's a lot more powerful as a double-page spread, and I like the added detail in Saitama's face.

The layout of this page with King crying is also altered into a double-page spread (honestly it's not redrawn much though):

Poor King.

Chapter 40

Speed-o'-Sound Sonic suffered yet another wardrobe inconsistency this chapter, just like back in Volume 3. He started out in this simple black shirt that got more complex as the scene went on, and he was redrawn to just be wearing it all from the start. Nice catch.

Here he is everybody - that's right, the first look at the Hero Hunter, Garou, was actually redrawn. His face was made more expressive and less... how do I put it, reptilian? Plus the criminals behind him were given faces of their own, which is very charitable of Murata.

That's all for Volume 8. To be continued in the next post!
